Loughborough Curry Festival now has more than 20 businesses involved with the new recruits being Koh-I-Noor, Nottingham Road, Loughborough; Rose Water, Loughborough Road, Mountsorrel; Elachi, Ashby Road, Loughborough; Farouk’s, Derby Road, Loughborough; Amirul Tandoori, Leicester Road, Quorn; Spice Cube, Loughborough Road, Mountsorrel; Akash Tandoori, Charnwood Road, Shepshed and Curry Royal, Park Road, Loughborough.

They are now all offering 10 per discounts to customers during the three-week festival.

The festival was launched on June 7 and the top three restauarants, as voted for by the public, will be shortlisted in a final contest at Loughborough College where the winner will be crowned and receive an award.

Councillor Jitu Choudhury, Hastings Ward Councillor, has been helping rally local businesses to take part and has been overjoyed with the response.

He said: “There is a lot of excitement being generated among the restaurant community and that has grown during the festival.”

The festival has been devised by Charnwood Borough Council, in partnership with Loughborough College, ADT Taxis and curry houses from around the Borough.

Restaurants will be judged on food quality, menu variety, service, atmosphere and prices and the judges include Councillor David Slater, leader of Charnwood Borough Council.
