Fall in Love with Loughborough This Summer
PASSENGERS are being invited to get a ticket to ride the ‘Summer Love Bus’ and take a magical mystery tour to groovy discounts in Loughborough .
The Arriva 126/127 double-decker bus, used on the service between Leicester, Birstall, Rothley, Mountsorrel. Quorn, Loughborough, Shepshed and Coalville, has been given a bright yellow makeover as part of the 60s-inspired Summer Love Bus campaign to attract shoppers to come to Loughborough.
The campaign has been revved up by the Loughborough Business Improvement District (BID) which will be offering passengers on the service a range of offers and discounts at businesses in the town.
The campaign, a partnership between the BID, Charnwood Borough Council, Leicestershire County Council and Arriva, runs from July 17 until September 30.
Roger Perrett, chair of Loughborough BID, said: “There are so many great things happening in Loughborough this summer that we want to shout about it – and the Summer Love Bus will do just that.
“It is time for people to forget the unseasonal weather, hop on board the Summer Love Bus and enjoy the fabulous atmosphere here in Loughborough.”
Councillor Paul Harley, Charnwood Borough Council’s Cabinet member for Leisure and Culture, said: “The Summer Love Bus is a terrific, fun campaign to encourage people from outlying towns and villages to find out what Loughborough has to offer. Don’t miss this chance to get aboard the bus and fall in love with Loughborough!”
Keith Myatt, Marketing and Communications Manager for Arriva Midlands, said: “This is a great time to get on board the Summer Love Bus and travel for less with our new range of Loughborough Local Saver tickets on services 126/127 (Rothley, Loughborough through to Shepshed) which are available from your friendly bus driver.”
This promotion is supported, in part, by funding the County Council received from the Government as part of its Choose How You Move - Smarter Travel for Business Project to promote wider sustainable travel in the Loughborough area
Lesley Pendleton, the County Council’s Cabinet member for Environment and Transport, said: “The Love Bus is just the ticket to bring a splash of colour to what has been a damp summer so far. We hope people will catch on and use it to enjoy what Loughborough has to offer.”
