Loughborough Leisure Centre Reveals Next Phase of £2.1m Redevelopment
RESIDENTS are being offered free taster sessions to try out brand new facilities at Loughborough Leisure Centre following a £2.1 million revamp.
The Free Open Weekend will take place on Saturday, September 29 and Sunday, September 30, 2012, to celebrate the new look centre which opens its doors to a state of the art gym and other facilities on September 13.
The refurbishment began in July and the new gym will provide 75 pieces of the latest fitness equipment for members and casual users alike, and will complement the new indoor cycling studio and refurbished exercise studio, both of which opened last month.
In addition to the latest exercise facilities, the centre also boasts a brand new soft play area for children, with sessions starting at 9am daily, a cafe with a great choice of food and drinks including several healthy options and a revamped reception area.
All these facilities were opened as part of the first phase of renovations which are due for completion in mid-December.
Following the opening of the new gym next week, the final phase will see the launch of a refurbished main exercise studio, fully equipped disabled changing areas, contemporary gym changing and toilets and a refurbished sports hall.
A Charnwood Borough Council spokesman said: “The investment in our leisure centres demonstrates the Council and Fusion’s commitment to providing top quality services to local taxpayers and helping meet our aim of helping residents live healthier lives.
“The refurbishment is tremendous and I can’t wait for our customers to try it out for themselves. The free open weekend will allow people to do exactly that for absolutely nothing!”
