Deadline Extended for Charnwood Sports Awards
RESIDENTS in Charnwood now have more time to vote for their unsung sporting hero.
The deadline for nominations for the Charnwood Sports Awards 2012 has been extended until 5pm on Monday, October 22.
Charnwood Sports Awards, organised by Charnwood Borough Council and sponsored by Fusion, Zoggs, Caston, AFG Fire and Arthur Jones Service Centre, aim to recognise unsung stars who set the sporting world alight in the last 12 months.
After the deadline, judges will examine the nominations and the shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend a glitzy awards ceremony planned at Loughborough College on Monday, December 10, 2012.
Councillor David Snartt, Charnwood Borough Council’s Cabinet member for Neighbourhood Services, said: “The Charnwood Sports Awards provide a brilliant opportunity for the community to recognise and reward local sportsmen and women whose achievements and leadership inspire and motivate others in the name of sport.”
Nominations are open in 13 categories:
- Junior Sportsperson of the Year
- Junior Volunteer of the Year
- Junior Disabled Sportsperson of the Year
- Junior Team of the Year
- Senior Sportsperson of the Year (Elite)
- Senior Volunteer of the Year
- Senior Disabled Sportsperson of the Year
- Senior Team of the Year
- Coach of the Year
- Club of the Year
- Contribution to School Sport
- Outstanding Contribution to Physical Activity
- Outstanding Contribution to Sport
The nominations can be submitted by filling in a nomination form, available from the Borough Council’s offices in Southfield Road, at Loughborough, Soar Valley and South Charnwood leisure centres or online at: www.charnwood.gov.uk/pages/charnwoodsportsawards
