Time Running Out to Nominate Your Sporting Hero

THE deadline for nominations for this year’s Charnwood Sports Awards has been extended until 5pm on Monday, October 22.

The Charnwood Sports Awards, organised by Charnwood Borough Council, recognise local sports stars who dedicate their time and energy to motivate, inspire and achieve.

Judges will examine the entries and the shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend an awards ceremony at Loughborough College on Monday, December 10, 2012, where the winners will be revealed. 

Councillor David Snartt, Charnwood Borough Council’s Cabinet member for Neighbourhood Services, said: “The Charnwood Sports Awards provide a brilliant opportunity for the community to recognise and reward local sportsmen and women whose achievements and leadership inspire and motivate others in the name of sport.”

Nominations are open in 13 categories:

- Junior Sportsperson of the Year

- Junior Volunteer of the Year

- Junior Disabled Sportsperson of the Year

- Junior Team of the Year

- Senior Sportsperson of the Year (Elite)

- Senior Volunteer of the Year

- Senior Disabled Sportsperson of the Year

- Senior Team of the Year

- Coach of the Year

- Club of the Year

- Contribution to School Sport

- Outstanding Contribution to Physical Activity

- Outstanding Contribution to Sport

The awards are sponsored by Fusion, Zoggs, Caston, AFG Fire and Arthur Jones Service Centre which is sponsoring the Outstanding Contribution to Sport Award.

The nominations can be submitted by filling in a nomination form, available from the Borough Council’s offices in Southfield Road, at  Loughborough, Soar Valley and South Charnwood leisure centres or online at: www.charnwood.gov.uk/pages/charnwoodsportsawards
